Congratulations to our own Stephen Mathison for being listed as one of the 25 most powerful people in Palm Beach County.
Disbarred, an all-lawyer rock cover band featuring our own John Whittles, Matt Fiorello , Brian Denny, Jeremy Slusher and Dan Fiorello, played a tribute concert recently honoring singer, songwriter and guitarist Chris Cornell, the former frontman of Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave. More than 260 people packed the Kelsey Theater in Lake Park, raising about $5,000 for the Chris and Vicki Cornell Foundation, whose mission is to provide support for children who are facing homelessness, poverty, abuse and neglect worldwide.

Steve Mathison, a founder and partner in Mathison Whittles, a law firm based in Palm Beach Gardens specializing in real estate, estate planning and business law, grew up in northern Palm Beach County, and is, in part, responsible for a lot of its growth.
He was an author of the forbearance agreement for the PGA corridor, ensuring responsible and sustainable growth when the John D. MacArthur Foundation sold all its land in the late 1990s.
“It’s an honor to have played a small part in creating such a special place for people to raise their families, grow a business, and have their children do the same,” Mathison said. “That doesn’t happen by accident. I truly believe we accomplished our mission — just look outside.”

John Whittles, President of the Palm Beach County Bar Association had the pleasure to interview Amanda Knox this past week and this is what he thought: “Amanda Knox’s story is fascinating from all angles, but especially the human-interest piece. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to get Amanda’s account of what happened. As an attorney, I know there are two sides to every story, and this luncheon was the perfect opportunity to examine all angles. I can’t think of a better way to kick off Law Week than inspiring young lawyers.”
